Winter Beauty Essentials

Since moving to Utah from California I feel like I've needed to take care more of my health whether its staying extra warm or making sure my skin is well hydrated! The winters here in Utah can be pretty brutal especially to your skin and body! This past month we've come down with so much snow and the days have been in the low teens! I'm pretty sure my skin went into shock when I moved here; Californians winters rarely hit below 40's! My skin is dry and I can no longer wear flip flops in the winter, so I've come up with  a list of my must have beauty products that will keep your skin hydrated and well taken care of and also included a few staple winter clothing items that will keep you very cozy and bundled up! I use chap stick all year but in the winter sometimes your lips just need a boost of hydration, that's why I use my Blistex Deep Renewal Lip Balm.

I swear this stuff amazing! Your lips stay hydration for most of the day and is reasonably priced. My next favorite is Moroccanoil Hydrating Shampoo, this not only keeps my hair shiny and hydrated but also adds an amazing scent. It's packed with vitamin A and E and since getting my hair done, it helps keep my color in as well!

Since getting pregnant with Mason, most of my pregnancy was in the cold, and so every once in a while I loved taking baths to let my body relax..because even if your pregnant or not we all need a nice bath once and a while. So I tried my first lush bath bomb, the one I used is called Butterball and my skin was so shiny and smooth! Its' a creamy buttery piece of heaven and is only $4.95! Let's talk make up hydration. I've been using Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation. It leaves your skin with a great matte and hydrating finish and also has amazing coverage! So if your looking for a foundation with great coverage and has a great price to match it, I highly recommend this one! Last but not least Tubby Todd's Everyday Lotion.

It's creamy and thick which is what you need for the cold times and you only need just a little bit to rub on your hands! This product is truly for anyone, even your little newborns! I'm picky with my lotions because I feel like they aren't thick enough or leave my skin really greasy and this item doesn't! If you have sensitive skin and/or looking for a lotion that is 100% natural than this lotion is for you and guys it only costs $14! Oh I highly recommend their travel kit!

Now for a few items of outfit choices that will keep you looking stylish and cozy! I love sweater dresses, they are simply the most comfortable piece of clothing that I would't mind wearing everyday in winter, not joking haha. I love wearing dresses and love knowing I can wear a warmer dress with a pair of boots and leggings!

The sweater dress I'm wearing is from Junie Blake. I also love love love sweaters!

I'm not taking about that college sweater in your closet but that sweater you can wear to be a little bit more stylish but still be comfortable! My recent sweater purchase is this beauty is from Jessakae. I would love to hear your winter must have's!

Masons Big Move!

Well Mason has hit the moment in his life where he's too big for his bassinet now and is ready to transition into his crib! It took me some time to think of a theme I wanted Mason's room to be and thanks to Pinterest I finally picked the theme I wanted for our baby boy. We chose Nautical, since I grew up in California and lived so close to the Ocean and Rex my husband also loves the water because every summer we take the boat out and go wake boarding or wake surfing, so having his nursery be Nautical themed seemed perfect for our little guy. It took a couple of months to get everything together but I love how his nursery came out! Most of,if not all his wall decorations came from Home Goods, which I am obsessed with! Since Mason was born, basically in the summer there was so much Nautical items at Home Goods for such great prices, and made shopping fun and inexpensive! We started decorating when I was in my nesting phase to get all the tiny details done right before he switch to his own room. I love the hints of metallic and wood in his nursery, it gives it an extra pop! We also wanted to hang up a few frames with some of our favorite quotes which I'm loving my custom portrait done by my friend Megan of Paradigm Design. She has the cutest shop and does the most beautiful work. See that mirror? Yeah well every time mason looks at it and he see's himself, his face light up with a huge smile! He already knows he a cutie! I must admit transferring mason into his own room was hard for me. I was so use to mason sleeping right next to us in his bassinet and even though night feedings were easier, we definitely miss the little man in our room. Happy Move in Day Mason!

First Family Recipe in the Books!

Since getting married and now having our own home, we've been gifted a couple of cookbooks but I've always loved the fact of creating our families own cook book; that with over the years we had some original and favorite recipes. Both my mother and my mother in law have already done this and I love the fact that they pass on their recipes to their children and will go down to future generations. I remember watching my mom cook and see the love the poured into her dishes and loved even watching her save her favorite and own creations in this tiny little file folder and look through them with her to see what plate she would be creating for dinner that night. So with a Binder and some paper and other fun crafty essentials, we've created the first edition to the Riches Cookbook! Our We decided to go with a new recipe (which I was little nervous about) but our dish was the Mozzarella Chicken, and lets just say it was mouth watering!

While shopping at our local grocery store, I came across a new sauce line from one of my favorite pasta sauce companies! We noticed that Ragu has a new homestyle sauce line and I was excited to create my first new recipe for our cookbook with a new sauce! What better way to start off the new year!? With five new sauce flavors, Ragu is celebrating 80 years of their delicious company and have always filled their sauces with garden fresh herbs and spices. I have always loved cooking and making everything from scratch and with their sauces they do just that! They contain no artificial colors, no artificial flavors and have no high-fructose corn syrup, so you know that you are getting the healthy option! With that being said here our recipe with our new favorite Ragu Homestyle Sauce!

Ingredients
  • 2-3 Skinless and Boneless Chicken Breast
  • 1 teaspoon dried Basil Leave
  • 1 teaspoon Parsley
  • 1/2 Ground Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1-2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • Salt & Pepper
Directions: Preheat oven to 400 F.

Get ready a small bowl and mix together all your spices. Mix spices until blended. Now that you have your spices together, it time to start prepping your chicken. With a hard decision of trying to pick out which sauce to use, i ended up going with  Ragu Homestyle Thick & Hearty Four Cheese. I spread half of the sauce unto the bottom of my deep glass dish. With your olive oil, lightly cover each chicken breast. Season chicken with salt and pepper. Once that's done gather your spices and start pouring over chicken; I also some of the spices into the creases of the chicken breast!

Now top off your chicken with the rest of the sauce making sure each chicken is covered evenly. Last step! Top off your chicken with shredded mozzarella and that's it! Set timer for 20-30 minutes and enjoy your delicious meal!

I loved creating our first new recipe and its one that I will have Mason and future kids try and have them pass down to their families! If you click below you will also find more fun recipes to make using Ragus Homestyle Sauce Recipes and see what other Ragu Homestyle Sauces they have!

Masons 7 month update!

My little Mason turned 7 months yesterday and I continue to be amazed of how much he's grown in just this month! Mason like always continues to be such a happy boy! We loved our Christmas break and loved having my dad in town for the holidays. We  loved seeing his other grandpa! Mason kicks his feet and smiles so much when he sees him! This year we hosted our families Christmas party and Mason loved seeing his cousins and extended family! Mason's first Christmas was one to always remember! He was spoiled with so much love and gifts! He loves his new shape blocks and his drum that lights up; and don't even get me started on his first pair of freshly picked shoes and clothes he got! Like really any babies first Christmas Mason only really truly cared for the wrapping paper haha.  He would take his time ripping the paper (oh because he wanted to enjoy the beautiful Christmas paper of course) but had a blast with Christmas! Something that Mason has done within this month is transitioned into his crib! Mason has been in his bassinet in our room for 5 months, but of course with time he's grown out of it and really doesn't have room to sleep anymore in it. When we traveled to California for thanksgiving he started teething and only wanted to be by our side. So he ended up sleeping with us in our bed which wouldn't be too bad if we didn't have a small bed lol. So his nursery was finally completed and we were ready to have him sleep in his own bed. Mason wasn't a fan at first and I think that's because he was always in arms length of something and use to something  closer. We tried a few times to have him sleep in my arms and then when he would , we would move him over. But unfortunatly that last no more than 2 hours. Long story short he is now in his crib full time and loves his new bed and of course room!

We also had a scare this month , the little guy decided that he wouldn't have a bowel Movement for a week! I decided to go into the doctor and see what was up, and right when I get there in the room the little stinker decides to poop haha.  Still the doctor wanted to make sure he was okay, turns out a baby transitioning into solids more tends to mess up the digestive system lol. After some prune juice which he hated and apple juice his bowel movements are back to normal and this momma couldn't be more happier to not see my little guy constipated. Mason loves eating carrots, sweet potatoes, green beans and his yogurt melts! I officially quit my job to be a stay at a home mother and love being with my mas! Mason is on the verge of crawling and I would soon be having my hands full with this little crawler but I'm excited for this new soon growth! So much has happened in this month both not so good, to scary but mostly filled with such happy memories over this holiday time and month 7 is definitely going to be great! Can't wait to see you grow more Mason and I love being your mother!
