Baby's coming soon!! Baby registry Must Haves

35 weeks now: Baby is the size of Lettuce  and weights almost 5 pounds !

We registered at a few places a couple of weeks ago and here are the items I registered for what I felt was a must have on the baby's registry list. Now I know there's the crib and car seat and well baby clothes but that's a given haha. I'm trying not to buy items for this little guy but its so hard, can you image if I was having a girl! I'm wanting to wait until all baby showers are done so that I can see what I was given and see what I am missing. How is it that I only have a month and a half  of pregnancy left! From registering or even gifts given to us we have already 6 bottles, why is it that, that seems like a lot to me? We're stocking up on diapers like no other (ps I recommend stocking up on diapers and wipes) and when reading an article.. did you know a baby can go through on average 10-14 diapers a day...that's almost 420 diapers a month!!! Now I know why its recommend to start stocking up on diapers.

I registered at Target, Baby's R Us and buy buy baby. Now I must say that I have never been to a buy buy baby, I don't know if there's one close to where I use to live in California..but I had never been to one before. When I walked into Buy Buy Baby I was immediately blown away.. guys the store was huge! It was also a must for me to Register at Target because not only am I a frequent shopper, but I also know they provide amazing customer service! I've heard so many recommendations from moms and read many reviews on why you should have certain items(even ones that are featured in the picture below) and I can see why! I LOVE hearing recommendation and knowing what products/brands moms like! I'm excited to see how all these products work and which one's become my favorite, but please if I have not mentioned something that is a MUST or that I'm missing please let this momma to be  know:)

32 week update!

Now that I've been in the single digits for some time now.. Time is just flying by. I was told that the third trimester is the one that goes by the slowest. Well that's not happening for me haha, it's going by fast and I almost want it to slow down. I can't wait to meet him but I'm already future missing my baby bump. I love feeling his movements (whether it's little or well not so little haha). I am currently at 33 weeks but because I forgot this was meant to be the 32 week update. So let's pretend it's a little bit of both:)

Baby is currently (33 weeks) the size of Honey Dew (yuuumm!) and is almost weighing 4.5 pounds ! At 32 weeks he was the size of a winter squash and weight 2.5-3.8 pounds (according to my app). Baby is growing fast and I'm seriously loving every second of it! I must say I can imagine him getting pretty squished in my belly because well ... Mom can definitely feel it! It's getting harder and harder for me to lean down and reach for something! I've officially started squatting.. My sweet sweet husband of mine helps me put my shoes on. Oh we also started taking prenatal classes at the hospital! Wow are they truly educating! It's a 4 week course and even though we've only been to two classes so far, we have learned so much!

Sleep seems to become less and less as time goes by in pregnancy. I think I wake up pretty much every night. He is so active at night! That little rascal loves making sure I know he's there haha! I'm tossing and turning most of the night just because my belly doesn't really seem to ever be comfortable.. But thank goodness for pillows! It also seems like the leg cramps have come to a stop (*knock on wood*) I think I like waking up to baby's movements rather than waking up to painful leg cramps! So far I'm still loving cereal but still can't stand the smell of bacon being cooked! I also admit that naps are now making an appearance and I will soon be seeing my doctor every week!

I also have to share  that hubby and I were able to take maternity photos last weekends, with the sweet and talented T.C Martinsen Photography. She was so kind and seriously easy to talk to! I like when photographers make conversation..because honestly it makes things a little less awkard lol. It was such a beautiful day and even though the wind was crazy as heck..the photos turned out beautiful!

California Baby Shower #1

A couple weeks ago my husband and I took a trip to beautiful Northern California to see my family. My mom and sisters wanted to throw me a baby shower as well and I definitely wanted my mom to see my baby bump before I delivered our little one! There's something about home you never forget and I love that California will always have a place in my heart! Even though we were there for 4 days, they were memory filled-beautiful days! The first night we arrived we were extremely tired .. And especially being at 30 weeks I think my body just didn't like sitting in a very compressed area for 2 hours and then another two hours (drive) .. Wow was my back and feet really sore. Lesson learned get the aisle seat next time haha. Once we arrived at my parents house we sat down and just relaxed with my parents, who I really missed! My mom and I could go on and on about the baby and I loved hearing her advice and how I was when I was little. She loved seeing my bump and loved feeling how my stomach would get tight. The next day it was time to get ready for baby shower number 1! My sister invited some high school friends of mine and family friends as well! It was great seeing everyone and hearing how everyone was doing and where they are in life. One of my sisters and my mom decorated the baby shower Blue and Gray. There were cute decorations , binkies, plates, flowers, pictures hung up every where, It was all so beautiful and ADORABLE! We ate delicious food, drank this amazing soda-fruit drink that all the guest loved , Colombian drinks are amazing! We played games which I will never forget the reactions and entertainment I got from them! Then it was time to open gifts and can I just say how ridiculously adorable baby clothes are!! Haha oh my gosh I got these little shoes that could melt your heart, great household items that are a must , and darling little clothes that I am going to keep looking at and re folding before he comes! I loved seeing everyone and having them come on such a special day , it truly was such a beautiful baby shower! Thanks familia!

After perfect baby shower we relaxed some more and hung out with my dad and mom, looking through some baby pictures my mom had sorted through so we take back with us to Utah. Haha looking through my baby pictures , I was one chubby little baby! The next day we decided to cook.. Basically all day! The hubby is obsessed with Empandas especially the recipe my mom makes, and even though I have had empandas made my whole life I never thought to write down the recipe. My mom has a special way of cooking, I truly believe if you make something with love then the food will turn out great, which in my moms case it went above and beyond great! I always admired my moms way of teaching others and being so passionate about the things she loves doing in her life. I honestly think my husband was doing a better job than I was at making empandas, haha my mom kept say "Oh wow look at you, that looks perfect" haha little show off ;). After hours and hours of preparing and finally making the empandas, they were ready to EAT! It was mouth watering to say the least! Seriously if you haven't tried a Colombian empanada you need to! It was a little sad as Sunday started to faid away because now Monday was around the corner and we had to go back home to Utah. Monday came and it was time to say "See you in 2-3 months" to my family, it wasn't a horrible see you later but rather an exciting one, just because next time it would be my family seeing Baby Boy! We love being in California for the weekend and especially loved the time we got to spend with our
family! Can't wait to see them soon!

Flower Lemon Tarts

For this Easter I wanted to make something new for a dessert. Now I've never liked desserts with lemon in it.. Maybe there was too much lemon in them that got me. But I decided to take the risk and make a dessert myself. I decided to choose a recipe from a vlogger I follow: Michelle Phan.  Her video is called "DIY Spring Delight" and I recommend trying her other cute ideas . I decided to make yummy mini flower tarts. I must admit I was a little nervous to try these cute pastries and be disappointed by another not so yummy lemon dessert.. But wow was I impressed! This little snack not only has the right amount of lemon in it but is completely fast, easy and way fun to make! Below are the ingredient for both the filling and the tart shell itself.

Filling ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbs. butter melted & cooled
  • 2 tsp. lemon zest
  • 3 Tbs. lemon juice
  • Powdered sugar

Tart Shell:

  • Pie Crust (I used Pillsbury Pre-made Pie Crust)
  • Flower shaped cookie cutter

Pre heat oven to 350. Start preparing your flowers, carefully roll out your pie crust and press firmly with your cookie cutter, making sure that your flowers are easy to peel off. The size of your cupcake/muffin pan may vary in size depending on the size of your flower cookie cutter. Before placing pie crust in pan,  lightly butter  your pan to make sure your tarts don't stick.

I went ahead and used a small cookie cutter (using a small cupcake pan) and filled them all with my flower shaped pie crust.  For filling, lightly whisk eggs. Whisk in sugar and butter, lemon zest and juice. I used a small bowl to mix all my ingredients. Pour filling evenly into tart shells,  make sure you fill the shells halfway with your tart filling to make sure it doesn't over flow. Place tarts in oven for 12 minutes (or until you see the tarts start to slightly golden.) Once they are out of the oven, sprinkle powdered sugar on the top and there you go! Enjoy these delicious treats.
